Snack Shack KC is a safe and fun place for young people to gather, play games, do homework and, of course, snack! Snack Shack was the vision of high school youth entrepreneurs in Youthfront's first ImagineX Social Entrepreneurship program. It began as a summer venture more than five years ago, but thanks to neighborhood and volunteer support, it operates as a safe hangout space for youth year-round. 

Snack Shack KC Staff and Volunteers work daily to provide a safe environment for Argentine students to grab a snack, hang out with their friends, and interact with caring adults. Caring adult volunteers are needed to welcome students, prepare and serve ice cream and other snacks, help with homework, play games, and mentor middle school and high school students. 

Snack Shack KC Volunteer needs:

Snack Bar Assistant: Cashier and friendly face to greet student customers. Prepare and serve food items such as ice cream, drinks, and packaged snacks. Maintain high standards of cleanliness behind the counter and in front of house. Includes wiping down counters, sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, etc. 

Snack Shack KC Mentor: Mentors walk into the Snack Shack with an open heart, ready to connect with students! Mentors are an extension of the Youthfront Neighborhood Team as they act as healers and guides for our Argentine students. Mentors also have the freedom to create clubs and programs that fit their passions and skills.

Age Requirement: 16 and up

Applicants over 18 years old must pass a background check and be approved to volunteer with youth.
